Depressed people and Radiohead go together like pastrami on rye. I kid (mostly), but I did discover this album during a pretty rough time in my life and I honestly think this album made it just that little bit better. Though current-day me had a hard time choosing between this and Ok Computer, ultimately went with In Rainbows, as I can listen to basically any song whenever I want to, while admittedly with Ok Computer there's a couple times where I've skipped tracks because I wasn't feeling it or wasn't really in the mood to listen to it, not really the case with In Rainbows, helped with the album being only 10 tracks long, and none of them really overstay their welcome, with the longest tracks, Nude and Weird Fishes using their time pretty well despite being 5 minutes and not really feeling like it is. On a related note to Nude, this album probably has the best vocal performance from Thom of any Radiohead album, the vocal part near the end of that song is absolutely heavenly, and other songs like Reckoner and All I Need being other good examples of Thom at his best. Albeit this album is more "rockish" than their previous albums to that point like Kid A and Amnesiac, it's definitely a very chill and subdued album, only going hard with Bodysnatchers and Jigsaw Falling Into Place, with the softest songs like Weird Fishes and the aforementioned All I Need exemplifying that in a good way. Just all around Radiohead's best album, if you already love the band 100% check this out.
